Jacob Santos
Founding Member
Jacob is one of the founding developers for Absidon Games and started development on Mecha Asylum prototypes when the company was new. He took a extended year break to get settled and find the motivation to get back into web based game development. Jacob has since then kicked off the Mecha Asylum Game development along with the Game Engine code base for other games.
The motivation for creating a game company was for keeping the links and development statistics for the other games that would be under development after Mecha Asylum. One site would list all of the games and future games, instead of having each of the games link to each other. Some games would be under development while others wouldn’t even be past the concept stage. A central place to list the progress of the games seemed logical and that is the reason for creating Absidon Games. For a year it seemed that the only things that were finished or under development were Absidon Games site and Mecha Asylum.
Skills
Jacob has a wide range of skills in general programming: C++, Java, Visual Basic, and web development: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP. The range varies from novice to expert, but with the right motivation, time, and research, he can do almost anything (except make Mecha Asylum good). While the code base for the first Mecha Asylum stemmed from the skills of creating small snippets for his personal site, he has grown into a better understanding of how to create a better web game. The development of the new game engine has shown some potential, but is still lacking the advanced programmer touch.
Game Contributions
- Mecha Asylum
- Mecha Warz
Jacob’s work ranges from lead developer on Mecha Asylum to helper developer on Mecha Warz. Development on future games will most likely have him leading the development along with a crew (if the design process allows for collaboration).
